Rethinking Atrocitus vs. Polaris, but the more I think about the Atom match, the more sure I become. For one, Iceman is not thermal energy. He has the power to, well, decrease thermal energy, and he himself barely has any. For another, even if you say he fights like crap (and he can), it's not gonna happen here. Not with prep, not with Emma. And all Atom's energy powers will be for naught when there's no energy to manipulate. I could go looking for a scan of him vs. some psychic, but really they don't even need to go that route and I sure as heck am not doing anymore research than I have to.

As for his speed, that's great and all but again, very few characters open up just blasting immediately. You don't do that in any combat IRL, and it very rarely happens in comics.

Plus there's the whole, Iceman can freeze heat beams, but even w/out that, Atom (and the great majority of speedsters) hasn't shown to my knowledge that his combat speed is any different than a regular person (I've seen the occasional argument that telepaths think faster than normal people actually, but I dunno about that either). So, I'm sticking with the prepped trump there.

Bout to shower and then work on Nano. I'll check back a few times before I hit the sheets.

Atom doesn't need any energy around him, he gets plenty from the Quantum Field.

Well, He won't be using any around him. And I believe in an Emma-coached Iceman with prep more than Atom. I really don't know either one really needs the other with the prep though. But together, yeah, I'll take them.

I agree with the Yak. If Iceman can freeze a nuclear explosion... I think he could freeze captain atom. besides, the prep here matters a lot. You have a captain atom who isn't going to blast on first site, since he will try to gauge his opponents, going against a strong psychic attack and his energy makeup slowing down molecularly which is also going to slow down his performance until he is well... frozen.

On other news, the more I think about it, Atrocitus is too much of a beast for Dr.P, and I don't think it will take much for him to win this match.

Judges opinions please.

I'm still kind of struggling with whether or not Bobby would be able to slow him down at all. Stopping a nuclear explosion is one thing, but Atom is pulling from power equivalent to the big bang(not that he's able to use it all at once).

Seeing as this isn't the well-written character draft, I support replacing Juggernaut and Magneto with Rulk and Hector Hammond, respectively. Probably will be enough data by then to use She-Rulk as well.

Hm... Well, the Polaris vs. Atrocitus fight is interesting. Polaris has made Kyle Rayner beat himself with his own ring while fighting the whole JLA (he seemed to have a powerup though, Joker, Killing Joke or Last Laugh or something), I think he can work with the ring. Plus he's pretty powerful in general and he's in the batcave, which is basically gonna be one huge weapon for him. He also has forcefields, and we all know how much I love those.

I think it's a good fight and maybe I was quick to judge it, but the lack of variety Atrocitus has and Polaris' experience with lanterns, his own powers, and the location of the fight, lead me to believe Polaris would win this encounter here. 5-4 I guess.

For the sake of not having much time to update numbers right now, I'll go ahead and vote for Big Red here. I mean, I agree that it's a good fight, but I really don't think the "stop hitting yourself" routine is going to work here, and Atrocitus will be able to beast his way through whatever the good Doctor can throw at him.


Also, I am going to disagree on the Frozen trump, just to see what another judge might have to say about it. It is a handful for Atom to handle, but he is more powerful than either of them alone. I like their chances though.
