I just found out from Albin Johnson, the founder of the 501st, that the 501st made it into the 2008 Guinness Book of World Records as the largest Star Wars costuming group!

Here is what the book says on page 174:

"This year (2007) is the 10th anniversary of the Star Wars 501st Legion (USA), the world's largest Star Wars costuming group. What was a stormtrooper fan club in 1997 now is 3,300 strong. According to the handbook, members "celebrate the Star Wars movies by wearing costumes and most importantly contribute to the community through charity and volunteer work."

The reference number to the book is as follows:

ISBN 13: 978-1-904994-19-0

As a member of the 501st, it does my heart proud to hear how large the Legion is becoming. I heard about the antarctica member on one of the 501st forums. I believe it's an individual from the military posted there for some type of research or something. They posted a cool pic of themselves in Snowtrooper armor out on a glacer or something. Very cool.
