Author Topic: Rainbow dress
Date Posted: 4/2/02 10:08am Subject: RE: Rainbow dress
I wanted to bump this topic up, cause I am still trying to make this gown.

Question 1# : Does anyone have any idea how to do her hair for this gown? My hair is a little to short, so I was going to do extentions or a wig. Any suggestions on how to keep that curve shape?

Question #2 : Goes along with the hair question. The hair accessories, what are those made of?

Any help would be most appriecated!

The accessories in her hair just look like padded fabric-covered head bands. You can find headband "blanks" at craft stores. As for the *size* difference, though, you'd probably have to be a bit more creative. Maybe use the inside rings of smaller embroidery hoops, glue on some padding, and wrap in fabric. **shrug** Or maybe there are doll headbands you could use...

I wish I could give you an idea about how to do the hair itself. As it is, I haven't a clue either. Maybe queenseamstress knows, or has some ideas - she's the resident hairdresser, afterall. wink

For the armbands and necklace. You can make it outta PVC Sintra. It works really well. Just try typing in PVC Sintra on a search engine and you can find a place to that will sell it to you. You can also find instructions on how to heat bend it. I can get you exact sites. Let me look through my list of addresses. And I'll get back to you.

Mrs. M- Thank you so much, that helps with how the chiffon connects to the arms of the dress!

Princess1- Here is some info I have found.

This site has information in using Sinra

This site also has information in using Sinra, but goes a little more in depth

This site sells Rigid PVC Foam board, though I've never ordered from him, so I don't know if it's a good site or not

You can also find Sintra at a local plastic store or a sign printing store. That's how I found mine.

Thanks afaeryschild-those are GREAT-cause of the size I can see a lot of detail, although it does show me a lot of my inaccuracies! LOL

What are people doing for fabric colour-because I notice that depending on the light mine are either exact are off...

Princess1:

on the 2nd page of this thread you can read what I did instead of dyeing. But then again, mine is nowhere NEAR as accurate as your girls' costumes.

Basically, if you look at http://members.aol.com/jpalotay/rainbow.html
my colour is very accurate in shading: where she is walking with Anakin, but in the pic of her in full length at

www.geocities.com/mrsmayimnaar/Rainbow.html

the shading looks a little different cause of the light...my back is also blue instead of purple because it looks that way in the Forbidden Love trailer instead of Video 11...
