Well now that the boards are pretty much all working properly, I'm going to post my progress on my third verison of this gown.
It's not silk or sheer, but all polyester. This was more of a practice session before I go onto my (hopefully) last version of this gown.
And of course here's me wearing it. Don't mind my messy room.
I've just finish sewing the sleeves together and then I need to see if my undergown will take to the dye bath and then sew the overlay and gown together, then I'll be done with it.
I think this is the closet I've ever gotten to the real thing. So yay!

RE: Rainbow dress
Thanks, guys!
I can't wait to get it done. But I'm not sure what to do about the neck piece and the armbands... I don't have the tools to make the fancy pieces everyone else does. And if the underdress doesn't take the dye well... which it might not (
) then... I'll probably just stash it away in my tub and start on my
fourth
version of this gown with silks and sheers.
And looks good,

Finally, months after completion, I got my friend drunk and made her be my model!
She doesn't even like Starwars. She was watching Simpsons at the time, hence the distracted look on her face...plus she was drunk.

I especially love that neckpiece! And good idea for getting her to wear it.

Hello - I don't post here often, and I'm not a great costumer, but I'd like to share some photos of my version of the Padme' Lake Retreat dress. I made it in about three weeks, as a rush last-minute job because my boyfriend and I travelled from New Zealand to Italy to visit the Villa where the Lake scenes were filmed. I took my dress with me, and had the chance to take a few photos -

Here are a few more photos of the dress and neckpiece -

Check out our local 501st forum thread for more photos of our trip to Villa Balbianello - my boyfriend Matt asked me to marry him while standing in the spot where Anakin and Padme' get married!

Wow, what dreamy and beautiful pictures! To be photographed in your wonderful costume in the same spot where the real one was worn and filmed makes for some pretty magical pictures. I bet you and your fiancé will treasure these forever.
Congrats on getting engaged. And in the wedding spot, no less!

What amazing photos!
Your dress turned out great! I'm sure you're going to love those pictures forever- to have the dress in the same place where the original was... *sighs in longing*
And congrats on being engaged!

RE: Rainbow dress
Hey guys!
I'm working on my first costume right now (a battle oufit) but I later hope to make this one. It's so beautiful. I'm a little intimidated though. It looks really hard and I'm just learning how to sew! But I have a question for you guys: How do you get the dress the different colors? Do you dye it, paint it, or can you just buy it like that? I just want an idea for how hard it really will be.
And for the girl who got proposed to: Congratz! I think that is sooo romantic. I wish I could find a guy like that!

Tally-- They usually dye their fabrics, although spray painting the fabric would also work. I haven't seen any fabric already dyed that would work for the full size costume, unfortunately.
I hope to see both costumes soon!
AnariaZar-Rel-- STUNNING costume!! goodness!! And that retreat place is SOOOOO beautiful! CONGRATS!!!
God Bless!

Thanx, I've never dyed material before. I guess this is a good time to learn!

RE: Rainbow dress
I know it's been awhile, and I haven't been able to even begin my fourth version (lack of materials) but I did get my underdress dyed. Here are some of my pictures, and when I get back from summer, onto my fourth version.
Great dress and photos, AnariaZar-Rel. Very cute about the engagement spot.
