Very cool! Wouldn't it be great to get a Padme group photo? We probably won't get to Atlanta until Friday evening (can't take the day off), so I'll wear the rainbow dress Saturday. Probably. Still kinda early to tell. I am working on it right now, so hopefully I'll have most of it finished by tonight (crossing fingers).

Well I want to wear my lake dress for the SW costume contest, so I'll wear it whatever day that will be. But we should get a photo or something, that would be cool! Good luck on the dress!!

FYI, the Star Wars contest is on Saturday; I believe you need to be down in the Ballroom by 4pm to enter (but be sure to check ahead with the organizers!). There is a thread in the Conventions list for the MotF track; here's a link to it: http://boards.theforce.net/fanforce_conventions/b10290/23167675/p1/?22

happy Good luck! I'm not entering but I always catch the contest.

Well I just finished my 4th version of this dress... LOL I wore it at Comic Con this past weekend.
There's a couple of things I want to tweak - mainly the fit of the underdress. Possibly adding the satin edging at some point. I left it off this time because I don't particularly care for it - but I may add it on in the future. I want to get different shoes as these kill my feet, and my boyfriend wants to make a new necklace...
The only thing I was disappointed in was the silk I used for the outer layer wrinkles like mad!! It was fine in the morning but after sitting during the RL breakfast, the back got all wrinkly again. Ah well!

dunno if I'll take it to dragoncon or not - not sure if I'll have room in the car what with all the stuff we're taking! LOL

Your costume looked great at the RL photo shoot this weekend. I wish I had had time to take a closer look at your necklace and some of the other details - but I'm amazed by the entire drape and flow of your design as well as the smooth transitions between your pastel rainbow colors. Great job! I hope you have room to bring it to D*Con too happy

Saturday it is!! We'll totally have to get some pics, Tally!
I just finished adjusting the sleeves (for the millionth time)and hopefully I'll finish the underdress within a couple of weeks. I'm really exited about finishing up, 'cause I've been working in it for about a year (on and off).
The costume contest sounds like fun! I thought about it myself and my husband says go for it, but I'm no pro. I don't know, maybe I'll do it...there tons of fun to watch, I bet it's a mad rush to actually participate! This would be my first live costume contest...very nervous, but in a good way. Either way, I'll be there cheering you on!
Kellilla, your dress is gorgeous! I love your necklace. And your hair! How'd you do them?

Thanks guys! happy I'm gonna try to bring it to dcon, I'll try to wear it on saturday too!
My hairpiece is just loose hair glued to each of the headbands... it ties on, and then needs multiple bobbie pins to keep it in place! My necklace is styrene... I love it but my boyfriend wants to make another version using shell... I can't argue with that LOL

I tell you, if you ever want to part with a costume... happy

I'd love to make a necklace using shell!! I don't know where I could find mother of pearl large enough (or at a price that I could afford), but I was thinking about doing a mosaic using tiny bits fit together tightly. The hair idea is awesome! I ended up buying a long wig, cutting the hair off, seing it into a band and attaching the band to the first headband. Only problem is keeping the rest of the hair twisted enough to stay in place while maneuvering it onto my head. Glueing the hair to all the bands may just do the trick...great tip! I am so exited to see everyone's work now! happy

HEy soudns like fum for the pic! Kellilla, you should join in too. A lake dress photo, yay!!

This will be my first costume contest as well, so I'm a bit nervous, but only because I have no idea what's going on!

For the hair, I was gonna buy some fake hair and glue it to some panty hose that's sewde into a cone shape. I'm gonna fill the hose with different sized styrpfoam balls and a wire down the middle to bend it into shape. I have no idea if it will work or not!

Kellilla: can you pm me a more detailed version of how you did your hair? I might just try your version if mine doesn't work.

Hey, Kellilla, I just finished the hair, and your idea rocks!!! I removed all those little black wires holding the frame in place (they were on the outside and visible)and glued the hair directly to the headbands. After about 50 bobby pins to keep it on my head, it looks 100% better!!!
I never would have thought of using pantyhose, TAlly...that's a good idea for keeping those flyaways in place (I had to cut a lot of little hairs that escaped the glue, burning my fingers in the process). Let us know how it works..the pantyhose could work for other styles as well...hmmmmm... After all this, we should have degrees in hair engineering! LOL!
