Live action series will shed some light on the Dark Times. But it sucks that we won't see Luke, Leia, or Han in it. Ah well, the show will be awesome anyway! And I see you guys were talking about Mara. I hated that she died. It is amazing how she changed her ways, and how she married the man she despised the most in her life. A very great character in the SW universe, indeed.

Ptsh, oh course not!!! What would be the fun of that? grin

For the record, if the Jedi or Sith wiped out the other, it would be the Jedi wiping out the Sith grin . The Force is with us, Jedi....for the most part laugh

I am glad someone agrees. I do not feel like being treated like I have 3 heads again because I have a disagreement with the "Almighty" EU writers over that subject. I have been told to get over it and to keep my opinion of it to myself. And this was in a Mara board. plain

Favorite Jedi - Qui-Gon Jinn. I loved his philosophy, and how he wasn't afraid to disagree with a Jedi Council that was, IMO corrupt at the time.

Least Favorite Jedi - Mace Windu. Sure, he was very awesome in combat, but he was a pompous stubborn jerk, who most likely HELPED with the downfall of the Republic, even if it was unintentional. His problem, was that he was too attached to it. So, like Anakin was too attached to Padme, and lost her, Mace was too attached to the Republic, and lost that, as well as his life - which could mean that he was even more attached to the Republic than Anakin was to Padme.

I completely agree with you on the issue of Mace.

My favorite jedi however, is a tie between Kit Fisto and Qui-Gon. Which is kind of odd, since Kit was a jedi who totally embraced the order, while Qui-Gon was a character who questioned it. I can't decide between the two though.

I always thought Mace was way too hard on Anakin, and seemed a bit jealous of him. Mace was very able and was a great Jedi. But he did not help Anakin by not giving Anakin any trust at all. He treated Anakin disrespectfully, and the fact it, Anakin was different, he was older, and the rules sort of had to change a bit for him in his training because he was not taken at an early age. He had already formed attachments, so since the Jedi had agreed to to take Anakin as a Jedi, they should have agreed to embrace everything that came with Anakin, and not judge him, as I felt Mace always had, for his upbringing and love he had for others. I do believe Mace felt threatened personnally by Anakin. And the mistrust from the council grew and Palp fed off it and fed it to Anakin and so it grew into a monster that help bring Anakin into the Sith. But Mace did not have to feel that way about Anakin. Mace was a strong, brave Jedi who needed to get his head out of the air and come back down to earth...then he would have been a wonderful Master.

Other than that, Mace is great. I just see how he treated Anakin, and it irritates me. No wonder he bacame a Sith. LOL!!

Nope. And they're not supposed to, for fall of one group would indirectly lead to the demise of another. The balance the prophecy of the Chosen One speaks of, is (at least the way I've always understood it), the balance of the two sides of the Force. Both Light and the Dark are a part of something grand. It would probably be foolish to say that without each the Force would be incomplete, as the Light and the Dark aren't really there but are instead simply manifestations of how one chooses to act and to put the Force to a certain use. However, as this use for either Dark or Light purposes has quite a significant role in shaping the galaxy and lives of many living entities in it, fundamentally everything the Force binds and/or is; it should, somehow, be balanced.

What I want to say is that in a way, the Jedi and the Sith keep each other in check. When there hasn't been many (widely influential) Sith for a 1000 years, the Chosen One brought down their opposite, the Jedi Order which was becoming more and more stagnant, self-centered and thus decaying. Likewise, when the Sith which had replaced the Jedi grew too powerful and threatened the Universe itself (destruction of an entire planet!!!), the Chosen One brought the balance once again, destroying the danger that was the Emperor. Of course, this is overly simplified but essentially, every time one side gets too strong and there is no equilibrium, the other side appears and a conflict starts. The Chosen One isn't always needed (or is he, as his descendants seem to be involved in major DS vs LS events, but that is a matter of another discussion).
Anyway, and I may sound too much like Alema Rar *wince* ( worried wink ) but in the end, the Balance needs to be satisfied. Now, the chaos theory (which the Sith seem to be quite fond of) would disagree, yet even in chaotic systems there is much symmetry. happy

Yes, Mara is such a great character. I was really sad when I read Sacrifice, probs even sadder than when Dumbledore died... ( wink ) Not sure why, but the most emotional bit of the book for me was when Luke finds out and pulls out her note, the last thing she "told" him, which he had used to plug something in his fighter. cry

Getting spoiled for this was the most amazing spoiler EVER! grin I knew somebody important dies in Sacrifice and I had some guesses, but wanted to stay spoiler-free. I managed that for quite some time, avoiding Lit forum etc. Yet there was a problem in the local bookshop with foreign stuff (where I used to get all my Star Wars) and I couldn't read it before going to Celebration Europe. There, at the talk with Mark Hammil, after his mentioning of Ben and "his family", someone from us fanforcers, just behind me, yelled "Your wife is dead!!!" tongue And I was all nooooooooooo! [/Vader], I haven't read the book yet! tongue

I concur. I've had enough of the big 3. I'm glad we'll get to see something new in the LAS. But that's just my opinion...

And in answer to other questons, I doubt the Jedi or Sith would be able to destroy the other order out of existence, although I would vote the Sith as being more likely to, since they tend to be a little more, um, how should I put this, agressive, and they fight harder. But this is Star Wars after all, I doubt that the galaxy will ever achieve peace.

I've been sick too, but I'm still available. Stupid Sinus Infection. >.<

Oh, and an announcement will be made soon about what we will be doing to fix the situation about the bad master to padawan ratio. I'll give you a hint: It is something that was done in canon before.

shock But what if it leads to jealousy? That would be a problem because jealousy could lead one to the darkside.

This order is very careful about that sort of thing. We seem to take joy in others' accomplishments and understand that some have been here for a long time and that the Order needs leadership. Sometimes the best leadership comes from the wisest and most experienced people. They try to do it according to Canon and the Jedi Council rules. I have been here since I started and have always felt that things have been done fairly. I enjoy it here and feel the leadership is fair but does things that benefit the Order, not for favortism.

Do not worry. And do not harbor jealousy. Jealousy comes from within. And it is not worth it. peace
