See, I saw an opportunity - as two of the last remaining Grey Wardens - to shape the future of the order. We did our best to get everyone on our side, we became the good guys, we secured the throne, and then we ruled with an iron fist.

If that represents a failure of Grey Wardening, then we failed as hard as we could.

Wait, you can be noble and be a back-stabbing, thieving, two-timing rogue right? worried

I shagged Morrigan twice and then sold the game and guidebook for $30.
The combat system felt very old, very spam friendly... as I only died a handful of times all game. Also, the game was a little too rooted in dark arts/ lore for my tastes...

Well, it's called a Dark Fantasy Epic. Written write on the back of the box. So stuff like Blood Magic, etc shouldn't be a surprise.

I just completed my 2nd playthrough. I did every quest differently this time. I used Blood Magic to attack the Demon in the Fade at Redcliffe. I sided with the Templars against the Circle. I put the blood in the Ashes. I slaughtered the Elves with the Werewolves. I sided with Behlan and restored the Anvil. Then I spared Loghain and had Alistair executed. (Which is by the way, one of the most cruel things I've seen in a Bioware game, besides in KOTOR when you can Force Command Zallibar to kill Mission.) I also took Morrigan's offer at the end this time.

I really enjoy the variety in this game. 2 playthroughs in and there are still quest options that I haven't tried yet. Ogrhen is fast becoming my favorite compainion in this game. "Human Ale is better than I thought it would be. Dwarven Ale tastes too much like dirt. Probably because they put dirt in it." laugh

...That...was evil... worried Especially with that last one cry

Oghren: So. I was thinking...
Wynne: Listen, dwarf. I am not interested in your innuendos, your propositions, or your bodily emanations.
Oghren: But I--
Wynne: Quiet!
Oghren: I just wanted--
Wynne: No! Keep it to yourself! I'm serious!
Oghren: Eh, fine.
Wynne: Good! Thank you!
Oghren: Whatever.

Ah...Oghren tongue

Just got this for PS3, but it's a Christmas present. So I won't be able to play it till Dec. 25... I wanted to get this after I started watching Legend Of The Seeker series. I don't know why though lol. Maybe because they are both "fantasy epics". But can't wait to play this.

Heh, Dragon Age put me in the mood to watch Conan the Barbarian yesterday.

There's quite a few similarities there... but I guess you could find that in any dark fantasy movie. thinking

You can probably find a youtube clip somewhere. wink

I was just fighting the Broodmother (second playthrough), but this time took control of Wynne as I find it easier to manage her healing and lyrium spells during the tougher fights. Just as we were finishing the Broodmother off, it went into slow motion and in the distance I saw my little elf rogue leap onto the Broodmother's back, stab her two daggers into the Broodmother's neck, and using them as grips, rolled forward and jumped to the ground as the Broodmother hunched over dead. It was ****ing epic. tongue

How large can each individual army for the final stand at Denerim be? I had a 50 man Redcliffe army, 50 man Dwarven Army, 50 man Elven Army, and then a 16 man Templar army. I assume the size is affected by the donations made to the armies at camp, right? I just had a hell of a time beating the archdemon with the armies I had remaining.

That being said, my HNWarrior took down the archdemon last night. It was brilliant. And he survived thanks to Morrigan.

Can you play through the game again with the same character like in Mass Effect?

Seriously, **** the ****ing Brood Mother. I reloaded, like, 20 times before having to trudge all the way back to camp to resupply. That fight seems almost unwinnable without being fully stocked, and the one trader in the Deep Roads has, if I remember correctly, around four potions, total.

I actually ended up using Shale in his immobile-buff form, and having Oghren and my main character just hack away at her while Morrigan dealt as best she could with incoming darkspawn. It's really tough. Took several tries, and I damn near even considered resetting the game's difficulty to "Easy" while doing it.

It's interesting how Loghain is presented in the prequel novels -- I was really kind of disappointed with how he came across in the game. He only starts to show a shred of redeeming quality after he's beaten and condemned to death. I can think of no good reason to want this guy in my party (especially knowing that it means ditching Alistair). He's presented with a lot more depth in the novels than in the game...he's hard, incredibly uncompromising, and understands better than Maric the hard choices required to rule a kingdom (and liberate it from occupiers), pushing Maric to points he never would have gone to on his own.

It's still a bit of a leap to the acutely-paranoid guy who's willing to sacrifice his best friend's son we get at the start of the game, but not as much of a one as I first thought. At all times, he's thinking of his country first, before personal loyalties or anything else -- and he's always convinced he knows best. I actually think Gaider is trying to make a bit of a point with that evolution of the character. I won't pretend, though, considering how well I knew (and liked) Loghain in the prequel novels, that I wasn't utterly struck dumb to see his actions in Ostagar, and seeing him essentially become a villain in the game.

Giving Leilana the Ranger specialty is all kinds of awesome right now. Her bear really tears **** up (it's hilarious seeing Shale and Bear corner anyone/thing), and the battle is over so quickly.

I had to put it on easy the first time through, but this time I kept it on normal and it was much easier.

But like you said, it's a hard fight without a potion or two. So with my skills in herbalism, I created about 50 potions of health, and 70 of lyrium (of various strengths) - all that plus potions I looted off corpses lasted me the entire Orzammar quest line, the deep roads, the trenches, the Spider Queen, Broodmother and beyond... so it was well worth it.

I did have a couple of deaths during the Broodmother fight, but Wynne's revival spell is a life saver (literally), and by controlling her personally, I was able to dish out the healing spells and consume lyrium potions much more efficiently than the AI tactics.
