That really sucks. Whose mistake was it, Steam or 2K?

I wouldn't be surprised if they made the "mistake" on purpose, dangling the carrot as close as possible so people wouldn't pirate it.

It was Steam's mistake.

Also as I got home I found out Steam made another blunder relating to this game. For the Australian version they accidentally uploaded the files including a low_violence.ncf, which was made for countries such as Germany. That particular file was never intended for the Aussie version, and 2K received a bunch of angry emails about it only to say 'Uhh, Steam gave you the wrong one.'

And now Valve have to come up with a patch for those of us who pre-loaded it to take the .ncf away. rolling_eyes

These things come in threes, right? worried

Second time I've double posted in this thread, but oh well.

I've played a solid amount of this game, and I've got to say my opinion of it is pretty close to Reynars. I wouldn't give it my GOTY by any stretch of the imagination, the menu functionality and complete lack of reliable online play serve to take away any chance this game had of receiving such a title. The actual gameplay though, is top notch. The RPG elements, while from afar appear to be rather minimal, actually end up being very integral to everything you do in this game. Loving it. And the story isnt as bad as everyone says it is. It may not be incredibly well fleshed out, and there is a suprising lack of dialogue, but Stalker relied more on text than voice acting too, and that game had an incredible sense of story and atmosphere.

It's an underwhelming bit of DLC. Not as great as it could have been, unfortunately.

So, what character does everyone think is the best. I started with Mordeci, but then decided to go with Roland. Mordeci was good for long range, however, in single player you fight alot in close so his abilities were lowered some imo. So I changed to Roland. He is pretty good at both which is nice and his turret can help out in a sticky situation. I have not tried Brick or the Siren (forgot her name). Are they any good?

I've only played as Lilith the Siren. She's been all right, the phase walk can be pretty handy at times.

The only character I've played with extensively is Roland (Soldier), and I can't imagine any of the other three being nearly as effective.

Next Borderlands DLC gets a name, price.
Link posted:
2K Games and Gearbox announced today the name for the next Borderlands DLC pack. It's called "Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot." It will be available December 29 on XBL and January 7 on PSN for 800 MS Points or $9.99. No date set for the PC release yet.

The add-on, which supports both singleplayer and co-op, adds three new Riot Mode arenas. Working together, players will fend off the masses as they fight for fame, honor, and more importantly, loot. That's because the add-on also adds a new bank feature that allows extra storage and the ability to acquire two additional skill points as quest rewards.

Ten bucks for a few arenas and (presumably) 125G? Uuuuuuggg...

So did anyone buy any of the DLC? I keep meaning to get back into this, and some of the DLC looks tempting enough. thinking

The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is the only DLC worth the ten bucks. Zombie Island was a disappointment and Mad Moxxi consisted simply of tiresome arena battles.

Unless you're an achievement whoring perfectionist like myself. Then you should get all three. tongue

Also, General Knoxx has a deliciously difficult "secret" boss battle after you complete the main quest that drops tons of valuable loot when you complete it.

I just got the game, and I think it's fantastic. I especially appreciate the splitscreen multiplayer. Not at all interested in the downloadable content though.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it! It's worth noting that the Secret Armory DLC continues on where the main story left off, so if you're curious about what happens afterward you may want to look into it. It's also a lot of fun.

I just picked up this game as well. Not too far into the game (only level 7), but I laughed so hard when I encountered a Mutant Midget Psycho. Shooting an enemy with that name just tickles me.
