I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andy Pettitte for being able to step up and put in another fantastic performance in a big important game. Wow, nice job. Also with the bullpen. That was nice to see. happy

Wish Jeter would wake up though. We all know he's better than he's been batting in this series. But atleast Giambi was showing signs of life.

Nice game though. I'm proud of our boys. Now it's off to hostile territory. Let's see if we can keep it going.

p.s. did you guys catch that Star Wars intro before the game? Ha ha, I loved it. happy

I missed the beginning of the game. I wish the Fox announcers were not a bunch of windbags and the game would not be delayed by the pre-game show. I actually turn down the sound on my TV and listen to John Sterling and Charlie Steiner. When the local Buffalo sports radio station that carries the Yankees has the Sabres on instead, I can still get it in at night.
Andy Petite comes through again. Great job! The series is all even with the Rocket on the mound against Pedro Saturday. The way Soriano swings at pitches when the catcher is in the left-handed batters box, I would not be surprised to see Enrique Wilaon at second. He is hitting .500 off of Pedro.
Go Yankees! I will sing "New York, New York" at kareoyke tonight for all the Yankees fans.

Joe Torre said the other day that Enrique will play in Game 3.

Just was not sure where.


But Enrique is 10 for 20 against Pedro this year...

And I forgot his lifetime BA, but he owns Pedro.


Wouldn't be surprised to see Pedro hit Enrique in Game 3...since he likes to hit Yankees batters.

Just for the record, Yankees pitchers have hit Sox batters twice as often as Sox pitchers have hit Yankees batters.

As far as last night, good game by the Yankees. Lowe was definately off of his game and the Sox bats weren't coming up with the clutch hits. Pettite was on the ball and their bats were sharp too. Saturdays game will definately be another classic matchup.

The fact that Jeter and Soriano stand completely over the plate may have something to do with them getting hit.

I find the talk of throwing at batters to be off base. Both Roger and Pedro pitch way inside, as far as they are concerned they own the inside of the plate. If a hitter wants to sit on the plate then they may get hit. You never would have heard of all this talk if Ball Players weren't such babies these days.
I don't think either pitcher is a head hunter. They are just tough pitchers.

As far as that Empire Strikes Back picture goes? Just remember how Return of the Jedi ends. I can see it now, Roger comes to his senses and turns on the Yankees.He then picks up George Steinbrenner and tosses him out of the owners box. wink

What a great game. Didn't we all know that Pedro would hit someone today.

Zimmer should of stayed in the dugout, but what Pedro did was a disgrace. The most disgusting thing I have seen in baseball in a long time(Think Roberto Alomar)

Pedro, Manny as well as Zimmer should of been ejected.

The reason I think they were left in the game were. They are in Boston, the game is on FOX and it is the play offs. If this were a regular season game, they would of been ejected right away.

The Red Sox are showing very little class. That goes for many of their fans as well. They are making the Yankee Bleacher Creatures look good.

Pedro deserves to be suspended. There's just no justifying what he did today. I can't understand why he wasn't ejected. But the Yanks came up with a HUGE effort today. A great game all around. I'm liking their chances now.

Do you mean for telling Posada he was going to hit him in the head or for defending himself against Zimmer's ridiculous effort to attack him?

I don't think Pedro meant to hit Garcia.If you were paying attention he didn't have very good stuff and for some reason he wasn't using his fast ball very much. Why would he intentionally hit a player with two runners in scoring position and nobody out? Look where Varitek was set up for the pitch he was looking for the ball to more away than it was. Garcia was being a baby for going nuts over that hit. It barley made contact with him. He then tried to hurt Todd Walker with a cheap late slide with his spikes up.

On that note, Manny was stupid for going off when Clemens threw that pitch high. It was high but well over the plate and no threat to him.

I'm sure Yankee fans will go on and on about Pedro knocking Zimmer down but Zimmer charged at Pedro and was trying to hit him with his left hand. 70 something or not, if you want to take a swing at someone you have to be prepared to have them defend themselves.

Ryno, gimme a break. Even on his worst day, Pedro has pretty good control. Don't even try and pretend that wasn't intentional. Sure, he had two men on, but first base was empty, the Yanks were hitting him pretty hard, and there was no reason NOT to put Garcia on first, especially with a right hander due up. It was intentional, and it was near his head. Garcia had every right to be pissed off.

As for Zimmer? He shouldn't have charged him. But he's a 72 year old man with two bum knees. Pedro's a 32 year old athlete. Here's an idea: get out of the friggin' way, Pedro! Throwing Zim to the ground like that was disgusting.

And Manny overreacted like a spoiled child. But I expected nothing more from him.

Besides that? Yankees played a great game today. I applaud Roger for keeping his emotions under control. The boys showed a lot of true grit. And I loved that Jeter homered off of Pedro. Awesome. And I loved even more that it was JETER. Yes, because I adore him, but even more so because I know how much Boston *hates* him. devil

Let's hope Boomer can keep it rollin' tomorrow. happy
