RE: Brand Spanking New York Yankees Thread
This is the greatest rivalry in baseball and you can make an argument that this is the greatest rivalry in all of sports. Today's game brought out the worst in me.
Pedro is a wuss! I have lost all respect for him after today. Hitting Garcia was done on purpose. I wish someone else could have gotten their hands on him after that Manny Ramierez-led fiasco in the 4th. David Ortiz was the first one to restrain him. Go ahead and throw at Posada's head, you chicken! I dare you! This reminds me of the 1998 Baltimore game at the Stadium in which Armando Benitez hit Tino Martinez after giving up a home run to Bernie. Either Graham Lloyd or Daryl Strawberry went across the field into the Baltimore dugout to get at Benitez. Too bad no one else went after Pedro. Complain all you want, Pedro, but you gave up 4 runs and lost. Scoreboard!
Manny Ramierez is a cry-baby, whining showboater. Would you like some cheese with your whine, or perhaps your binky or a baby bottle?
The Red Sox fan in the Yankee's bullpen deserved what he got. The Red Sox say he is an employee and belonged there. According to ESPN radio, the Red Sox will charge Jeff Nelson and Karim Garcia with assault charges. How absurd! You lost! Get over it! 1918! The curse lives on.
I did sing "New York, New York" last night. Afterwards, I screamed, Let's Go Yankees and 1918. Oh, how I hate the Red Sox! And what kind of rallying cry is "Cowboy Up?"

Thanks for that on-the-spot report, Les. For those of you who've just tuned in, the Pinedale Shopping Mall has just been bombed with live turkeys. Film at eleven.

I don't care how off Pedro is. A pitcher like him does NOT miss his spot that badly. That was intentional. He's a known head-hunter. Just ask Gerald Williams.

Typical New York Yankee garbage. Nothing is ever their fault. You don't throw at a guy when their is a player at third. If the ball misses and gets away then a run scores. Anyone that knows anything about baseball would realize that.(That leaves out the average Yankee Fan)
It's okay for a coach to attack a player because he's a lot older? The player should just let himself get smacked around? Sure, if Mike Cubbage charged at Clemens, Roger would have suggested they discuss it over a nice cup of tea.
It's also come out that Jeff Nelson and other players attacked the grounds worker. This is according to two Boston Police Officers that were there. The Police want to charge the Yankee players, not the Red Sox. I'm sure he was very dangerous when he was on the ground being kicked in the back, arms and face by men wearing cleats.

RE: Brand Spanking New York Yankees Thread
Here we go with insults coming from Red Sox fans. This is nothing new.
I love the "Lets bash Clemens because we gave up on him" attitude.
Pedro did not have to throw Zimmer down. He should of avoided his aproach or took a defense position.
It sucks to be fans of losers. Especially losers with trash players like Pedro and Manny.
Anyone have a good reason for them leaving Manny in the game?

How did I bash Roger? By asking if he would stand still if he was attacked?
Pedro did take a defensive position. He used Zimmer's own momentum and huge mass against him. He could have swung at him or kicked him. He didn't.
Fans of losers? Hmmmmm, How are the Jets,Giants,Knicks,Rangers and Islanders looking? I think the Giants are at .500. Yup, NY is a city of "winners".

Who is talking about those sports? I personally do not give a damn about those teams. I was not bashing the city of Boston at all.
This is about the Yankees and Red Sox and the bottom line Red Sox have nothing on the Yankees for how many years? Hell even the Mets humilated the Red Sox. I hated the Mets well before I had any hatred towards the Red Sox. The only reason I have hatred towards the Red Sox now are because of their jealous and angry fans. This all started in 1996 when the Yankees started winning. Hell, I was a fan of Clemens, Boggs and Greenwell back in the 80's and early 90's. Yeah, I was thrilled when Boggs and Clemens became Yankees. The Yankees gave them what the Red Sox could not.

Where were all you fans when the Yankees were terrible back in the 80's and Early 90's?
You see, it's easy to go to the mall and buy the gear for your local team when they are winning. Then scurry away and hide like rats when things aren't going well.
The Red Sox have real fans, fans that follow every game, every pitch. Fans that fill the stands through good and bad. You see, we love our team no matter what. We don't abandon them, ever. That's why Sox fan's are better than Yankee fans.
Deep down you all know that to be true.

Where were we?? I'll tell you where we were!! At the stadium, cheering on our boys as always. Mel Hall? Kevin Maas? Pat Kelly? Ring any bells? Probably not, because they were on one of the worst yankees teams in the early 90s. Don't pretend we just popped up after they started winning. I've been going to Yankee stadium since I was four.
Just admit it: your sox embarrassed you today. They played a decent game, but their behavior was disgusting. And I'm talking mainly about Pedro and Manny. I'm sorry, but the second Pedro threatened to then throw at Posada's head, he should've been ejected.
I won't comment on what happened in the bullpen, because it seems new details are still coming to light. But I will say this, if Nelson and Garcia attacked that grounds crew guy unprovoked, then I can't condone that either.
It's a shame that such a well played game has to be overshadowed by all this.
edit: I find it terribly ironic, that after all this, *we* were the ones that were labled the 'evil empire'.

RE: Brand Spanking New York Yankees Thread
Don't get me wrong. Pedro was out of line to threaten to hit someone in the head. He should face a fine for that and perhaps a suspension next season. To suspend him now would be pointless, he would appeal and it wouldn't go into effect until next season.
The fact that Yankee fans are so outraged that one of their players would be hit by a pitch is laughable. You people say how that incident was a blatant move but you also claim that Roger wasn't throwing at Piazza. Which by the way came after Piazza had a run of good luck against Roger and hit him in the head. But that doesn't matter, Roger is a Yankee.
Yankee fans think there should be two sets of rules. One for them and one for everyone else. That's what I hate about the Yankees and their fans.

Right there with yah Yanksfan. I went to my first Yankee game in 1982. I did not get to many games during the 80's cause my father hates the Yankees(He grew up a Brooklyn Dodger fan). It was not until the early 90's when the Yankees sucked that I went to games on my own.

This rivalry has taken on a new life, thanks to the actions of Pedro Martinez. The Red Sox always lose and then their fans sling insults at the Yankees fans while the Yankees move on and win the World Series. A pitiful display from a bunch of sore losers. Thanks to Pedro, the Yankees are more focused to win the ALCS and the fans are at a very rowdy level. What do you expect from Red Sox fans when act like their All-Star, Manny Ramirez: a showboating, whining cry-baby. The respect and the fear of the Red Sox and Pedro are gone now. Rocket spotted the Red Sox a 2 run lead, virtually insurmountable against Pedro in past years. I no longer fear the Red Sox hitters because whatever they do, the Yankees will surpass their efforts and the Yankees will beat the Red Sox.

I'm totally bummed that tonight's game was postponed. Now we don't get to face Burkett in game 4. And we have to deal with Lowe at home. This sucks. We'll need Boomer give us his all tomorrow to keep the momentum going in our favor.
I mean, I still feel good, but it's a setback, I'd say.

Rain, Rain. Go away. Come back another day.
It's tough at 9:30 last night and "Varsity Blues" is on instead of the Yankees game. I'd rather have them not play last night because the field conditions were atrocious. All this does is delay the inevitable Yankees ALCS victory. The Yankees are too focused to let the rainout distract them.
