At least directly. Because Clemens was with Toronto for a couple of years...and hated Boston after he left.

Yeah. He didn't go to Tampa until the Yanks left him open for the expansion draft.

As much as I'd love to see Pettite come to Boston, I think that if he leaves NY it'll be for Houston. Since he's already got a few rings for his colection, he'll probably sign with Houston so he can still play but be closer to his family.

What about David Cone? He went to the Sox straight from NY, and that was only a couple of years ago.

EDIT 2: And this is a few years earlier, but Mike Stanley headed straight to Beantown, too.
