As much as it sucks to say...I think the Yanks reign is over. This latest wave of signings reminds me too much of the early '90s. Something tells me they're gonna be in big trouble this year.

What do you guys think about signing Kenny Lofton? Does this spell the end for Bernie in center? I mean, 'officially' the job is still up for grabs, but what do you think?

I see him being gradually phased out into a permanent DH over the course of the year. But I don't see them moving him off the field just cold turkey.

If that makes sense.

Not that I think they SHOULD do that, but that's what I predict. Man, Bernie's already considered 'old'. I feel like it was just yesterday he was a rookie. Weird. Weird.

Bernie's knees are probably in worse shape than Jason's.

The difference is that CF is a very important position in the OF. And if Bernie can no longer do an adequate job...


I like the Lofton signing...cause now he can lead off...have Jeter second...Soriano can be third or fifth. Sheffeild will be either clean-up or fifth.

well...it is a semi-retirement.

He will only be working during practice at home games...which I think means that he will not travel with the team.
