I will agree with you about Ventura. It will be difficult to see him bare-hand a ball and throw off-balance to first base. And it will tough not being able to sceam, "Ventura", like Mr. Shickadance did to Jim Carrey in "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" whenever Robin Ventura did something great. Time will tell if this trade will work out for the Yankees and the determining factor will be how many World Championships the Yankees win while Aaron Boone is in New York wearing pinstripes.

Did anyone else catch "Pride of the Yankees" on ESPN Classic? What a great movie! It was also on the week before on either TMC or AMC (I forgot which one). Seeing Babe Ruth in this movie brings chills down my spine and Gary Cooper did a magnificent job portraying Lou Gehrig.

LOL!!! Ha ha ha...."Satan?? Oh, Mr. Shickadance, sorry, thought you were someone else."

*sigh* Tough loss for the Yanks last night. Kinda annoying. But I have to agree with Joe moving Soriano down the line up, he looks LOST up there right now. And Jeter's always made a decent lead off hitter.

Oh, and I love "Pride of the Yankees". Lou Gehrig is actually my all-time favorite Yankee. I did a report on Babe Ruth in 8th grade (we were studying the 20s) and found myself *fascinated* by Lou Gehrig instead. Just a great, super, person and a tremendous athlete. Gary Cooper was perfect casting I think.

Todays game just SUCKED.

I wont be seeing another game until Friday since I will be away. I hope all is well.

Matsui should be hitting 3rd and Giambi Clean Up. Anyone agree?

Man, yeah, totally sucked. Poor Pettite, after such an impressive performance, Rivera went and blew it for him.

Hmmm....I'm not sure if I agree with that batting order or not. But actually, I wouldn't be against Joe giving it a try for a few games.

Darthmoby checking in from Boston!

*checks behind to see if any Red Sox lunatics followed him*

Finally, a place I can go. You can't believe how hard it is being a fan in the middle of Red Sox country. These Red Sox fans up here are just insane. If you listen to Boston media, the Yankees are on the verge of the worst year ever.

Poor Pettite, pitched a great game and didn't get the win.

Heeeey, DarthMoby, I saw you over at the Boston boards. Impressive! Standing up at the risk of the wrath of all those Bosox fans. tongue

But yeah, man. The day after the deadline, the way the media went on (especially, grrrr, ESPN) you'd think the Red Sox suddenly had the division all tied up. But then they went into a mini-tailspin, and we increased our lead. Go figure.

Hope we put on a good show against Texas this week. happy

Who would have thought that Jeff Weaver would be the only pitcher to win a game for the Yankees in Oakland. After seeing Reuben Sierra in right, I would have to say that right-field is Dave Dellucci's to lose. Sunday was an excruciating way to lose. Andy Petite pitched a gem of a ballgame until he walked Mark Ellis to start the 9th. Mo should have closed out the game. Hopefully, Joe Torre can manage this team to a World Series championship again. This goal seems to be the focus of the New York Yankees. It also helps that the Red Sox cannot win. Let's hope that Steinbrenner doesn't feddle too much and prevents Joe Torre from managing.

I can't wait until Saturday. This will be my first pilgrimage to Yankee Stadium. I previously saw the Yankees in Toronto last year. If my calculations are correct, Andy Petite will be on the mound. No rain dances allowed!

Moby, I know how you feel. It's tough being a Mets fan when the Yanks are on the verge of buying another penant.

I fail to see how I am a traitor. Though I was born in Boston, I did not live there from ages 2-8. When I was eight I moved to Queens. There I went to my first baseball game ever. It was at Yankee Stadium on 6-17-78 and watched Ron Guidry destroy the California Angels [face_smile] . Then I moved to Boston in September and the first game I watched on TV once I go there was the Bucky Dent home run game to clinch he AL East. How was not supposed to root for the Yankees. My dad being from North Carolina had not yet learned to hate the Yankees and my mom didn't say much about it. So I was a Yankee from the start as I see it. I cheered for them through the lean '80's and was finally rewarded in '96 after eighteen years of waiting for another World Series. Red Sox fans make me sick. "Oh woe is us! Babe Ruth left and cursed us!" Tell it to Cubs fans and see if they care. Yankees fans are amused but don't care. Red Sox owners shouldn't try and finance crappy plays they can't afford. Never mind telling a Red Sox fan about how for a couple of years the Yankees owned Fenway Park. (The actual park. Look it up, it's true.) I am a Yankees fan and I am not a traitor. I might have followed the Red Sox had it not been for all the crying from fans I have had to listen to over the years. Face it, George wants it more. The previous Red Sox owners could have gotten the players to wins but such as with all Boston sports teams, they didn't pony up the dough. Their loss.

Anyhow, Roger won again. Jeter was awesome. Now if Bernie gets hot we can bury the Sox again and beat Atlanta in the Series for the third time. Go Yanks!

My thoughts exactly, Yanksfan. If Jeff Nelson is convinced he could not win a championship in Seattle and thinks he can win another one with the Yanks, he will be a dangerous set-up man for Mariano Rivera.
I am proud of you, DarthMoby, for remaining a Yankee fan in Boston. If anyone is a sore loser, it is Boston fans. Boy, do they hate it everytime we remind them that they last won the World Series in 1918. GO YANKEES! cool
