At least Candem Yards is a nice place to go see a game. The ballpark is pretty, you can get good seats cheap, and it's only an hour flight from Boston.

I totally agree. Camden is one of the most beautiful parks in the league. We used to go at least once every year to a game. Not only are the tickets a decent price, the food is good. The BBQ pit is worth the trip alone.

Oriole Park is as good as it gets when it comes to ballparks. I went to a game there during its inaugural year in 1992 and it was fantastic. I've been dying to go back ever since.

I've been hearing rumors for about 2 years now that the Yanks and Mets are getting new parks. They've got pictures at Ballparks of Baseball yet I've seen no progress on the matter. Who knows what's going on..

No no no no no no no no!!! No new ballpark for the Yankees! Yankee Stadium is hallowed ground!! Ruth! Gehrig! DiMaggio! Mantle!! If we moved (even if only across the street) I'd be most upset.

As for the Mets? Whatever. Who can argue? Shea is ugly as crap. But if the shoe fits... ;-)

Why not? They could just renovate it again. But gaaah, don't move it. Fenway Park is still standing, isn't it? And that's old as crap (but a very lovely park, and I'm dying to visit it, so I mean no disrespect). Keep Yankee stadium where it is.

A park can only be renovated so many times. Sooner or later major sections of it are gonna have to be replaced and when that has to be done year after year, it's just not wise thinking. I like the idea of building a new park on the lot next door and keeping certain sections of the current Yankee Stadium(i.e. Monument Park) as a museum or a park or something like that.

Personally, I'd like to see some of the old features of Yankee Stadium brought back such as the full overhang roof with the facade around the top and put the old style arches on the exterior of the park to give it that awesome 1923 look to it(I know, that picture isn't from 1923, but you know what I mean).

I also think they should go back to the field dimensions of the late 70's.

312 to left
411 to left-center
410 to center
385 to right-center
310 to right

Push the fences back man. Make those guys work for those homers the way they did back in the day. Turn Death Valley back into Death Valley!

Yankee Stadium looked fantastic before big George took over. When he remodeled it, he destroyed its charm(i.e. removing the facade and painting over the arches to name a few). Now don't get me wrong, I love the Stadium as it is now, but it could've been done so much better.

I agree about bringing back some of the stadium's original charms. I still don't want to move it though.

If I am not mistaken...Boston actually is building a new stadium.

Mike...you mean that the fences were actually even closer in the 70's than they are today?

Unfortunately Jedi Satimber you are mistaken. The biggest problem the Sox organization is having with building a new stadium is location. Without taking out a few buildings around the current stadium and making the new one there, there isn't a place big enough in the city to put one that would matchup in size with your average ballpark of today. Secondly there is the issue of money. After just plunking down $320 million just over a year ago, the Sox don't have the cash to fund such a project and the Mass Legislature won't offer up any state money to help.

I've been hearing all sorts of stuff about a new Fenway Park for about 3 years now. No progress has been made, mainly due to the reasons that Oucast posted up there. They had a whole big plan for it and everything. It was supposed to be just down the street from the old one off of Brookline Avenue. The field dimensions and fence heights were going to be identical to the current park and the seating was gonna be increased by about 11,000 I think. Also, the 'Citgo' sign would've still been visible and the seat where Ted Williams' 502 foot homer landed would've been painted red like the old park. It sounded like a great idea but it just wasn't feasible.
