No it was definitely a fair ball. The umps' conference made the right call. It was good to see that they got together and made the RIGHT call. I really think they need to do that more often.

Mussina was absolutely brilliant today. He scattered 3 hits and won it 8-0. That's the 2nd straight game he's gone the distance and he also has a 21 inning scoreless streak. After that wacky game last night it was good to see the bullpen and especially RIVERA get a much-needed rest.

Omigod, yeah. Mussina was just in complete control yesterday. It was brilliant.

We got the wild card Jeff Weaver tonight. It will be interesting to see which version of the pitcher will show up tonight. I sooo hope the good one, I really want to beat the Royals this time around.

The wheels are starting to come off in Red Sox nation. Seven games back in the loss colunm to the Yankees. Oakland now owns the Wild Card. It must be getting close to September. happy devil

I was looking at some stats at ESPN.com and I noticed something. Mussina is 4 wins away from 200 lifetime. Given his play in the past few years he should easily hit 250 before his stint in pinstripes is done.

And Boston lost again. That's 7.5 game lead now, guys. Man, I can't believe they're starting to fold again. I mean, I CAN believe it, but I thought this year they would put up a better fight. I swear, you could set your watch to these guys.

I know it's only August, but you have to admit a 7.5 game lead does feel good. cool

Say what you will Yanksfan, but it's like you said, it's only August. The Sox will come around, they will come back and make it to the postseason, they will go to the World Series and win, they will break the curse, they will find Saddam Hussein and bring him to justice, they will wipe out the national defecit, they will... <slap myself in the face multiple times> ok..ok..ok, I apologize, I will feel better once my medicine kicks in. I'm not one to second guess Joe, but I would've let Nick Johnson bat in the 9th. Not only is he a decent hitter, but the bases were *loaded*, and Nick is gifted at drawing the walk. Walk Nick, tying run trots home.

That's just me though. Hopefully we'll go out and get 'em tomorrow.
