I have always said the Weaver deal was a bad one. I never liked him. I would like to come around but he never gives any reason. To me, he was another Danny Tartabul. Just another high priced guy that George had to have. I just think you need to have more substance to wear that uniform.

My fantasy stats have taken a pounding in the last few days...with Rocket & Escobar getting bombed...


I kept out the pitchers that were pitching in Coors, but have not checked...they probably all threw great

The Moose comes through again and stops another losing streak. He has pitched beyond expectations. What a great weekend this will be. Monday is Labor Day and the Yankees and Red Sox duel again in Fenway. You can't ask for anything else, although a Yankee sweep would be nice. Contreras should pitch this weekend and the Red Sox have yet to face him.

I guess as a make up game...

Hence, this is the one time that I will root for the Phillies to win.

I thought that Contreras started a game against the Sox in the beginning of the season (maybe that was just spring training). I have a feeling that Saturdays game will be the best out of the three to watch (Pettite vs. Martinez).

What a win for the Yankees! The Red Sox score 4 runs with Pedro in the game and still loose. Who would have thought that 17 runs would be scored? You know Pedro is in trouble when he tries to dictate to the home plate umpire what he thinks is the strike zone. However, the bullpen must do a better job because Mariano does not do well when there are runners on base in the 8th inning. He must be saved until the 9th inning.
Contreras pitched horrible Friday night. There is no excuse for giving up a 2-0 lead and a 5-3 lead in the next inning. His splitter was ineffective. In all fairness to the pitching, I think Soriano going 0-5 in the game hurt the Yankees, as well. He needs to get on base. When on the bases, he has the ability to generate a run.
The series finishes with Roger Clemens, in what could be his last game at Fenway, versus Tim Wakefield. I hope they take 2 out of 3.

It was definately an unusual game yesterday for both starting pitchers. It's not everyday that both Pedro and Pettite get rocked like that.

I can't believe the Yanks escaped Boston with two wins. That is absolutely huge. I really thought they were gonna get swept after Saturday's first inning debacle. Next week's series will decide the division.

I couldn't agree with you any more GoA. I didn't expect the Sox to sweep the Yanks, but I didn't expect them to lose 2-3 either. This weekend will definately be the deciding factor for all teams who will be going to the playoffs.
