Once again Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson aims for a family audience. You have to give the guy credit, he'll try anything even if he has to wear pink tights to get laughs. He's obviously got a good sense of humor.

Okay, that was a funny trailer, but I think it was more mocking of the movie than putting it in a positive light.

Yeah. When the trailer has things likr 1000 foot high tidal waves throwing aircraft carriers into skycrapers, world monuments crushing hordes of fleeing people and giant starships, I am inclined to think that 2012 have Independence Day levels of chaos and destruction. Disaster porn indeed. grin

I'm confused. It's a comedy, and you thought the trailer was funny but you didn't feel it put the movie in a positive light? Why would the producers make a trailer that mocked their own film?

The good part? The Rock looks just like Mark Messier.

Duh! There's been some confusion here. I moved on past the 2012 thing. My response that you quoted was based on THE TOOTH FAIRY trailer. If someone doesn't mention what movie they're referring to and mentions "comedy" and we're currently discussing a comedy trailer, I'm gonna assume that's the one they're talking about and respond to that.

I thought the Garrison Dean trailer was a malicious, inept piece of internet garbage. And yes, I certainly knew the studio didn't make THAT.

The Tooth Fairy doesn't look that good, even for a live action family comedy. At least The Rock's last one with the football and the kid looked halfway decent for the genre.

Though I'll admit, the Hockey Tooth Fairy getup is amusingly fun.

Still, it's no Mr. Nanny.

I think the Tooth Fairy will kick butt. Gee, that last sentence sounds odd, doesn't it?
Seriously, I think the Rock will score a big success with that film next January. A film with savage hockey violence, Billy Crystal + Julie Andrews, and a kiddie angle? Can you smell what the Rock's cooking? He's got every audience quadrant covered!!!!

I remember when I first heard Hollywood was making a movie about Bruce Lee, I was highly skeptical. After I saw this trailer, I was a lot more optimistic about it, and saw the movie, which was pretty good.

So, yeah, the trailer did it's job.

Having not seen the film, it did look interesting. It does suffer a bit from the whole "he changed the world" cliche it employs but considering when the film was made it probably wasn't a cliche yet.

It also made me wonder whatever happened to Jason Scott Lee? (judging by his IMDb profile he seems to have been relegated to direct-to-video sequels and B movies)
