I thought he did an excellent job playing Bruce Lee. However, I seem to recall something about him really turning into an egomaniac and that he was difficult to work with, specifically on a movie he did with Kurt Russell called Soldier. He may have overestimated himself and people didn't like it. Not sure though.

The film is a lighthearted & sensationalized account of a complex man that doesn't scratch the surface of what Bruce Lee brought to cinema or martial arts. Jason Scott Lee did a nice job playing an icon and its too bad he didn't go on to bigger things. The last thing I saw him in was "Balls of Fury" in a minor role.

Since this thread is about trailers I think the most important aspect of this film is the music. Music from "Dragon" is used in trailers all the time. I remember hearing it in trailers for a "A Bug's Life", "Cinderella Man", "Forest Gump" & "The Truman Show". Those are just some off the top of my head but I know its been used in more.

Glad you brought that up. I think that's Randy Edelman's most successful score and certainly his most recognizable theme. It does seem to pop up everywhere. I've heard it quite a few times myself.

We leave Bruce Lee behind to take a little trip down one of the most famous streets in the Los Angeles area.

From David Lynch:

Mulholland Drive Trailer

Unlike the vast majority of trailers I've posted here, this one definitely doesn't give away the whole movie. Perhaps that's largely because THE MOVIE ITSELF doesn't give away the whole movie! Like many of Lynch's films, he almost dares you to figure out everything that's going on. Sometimes, that's fun. Sometimes just very aggravating.

But in event, what's your take on the trailer for one of the strangest films of the new century?

The Tooth Fairy

And here I was hoping this was a remake of Darkness Falls. This looks pretty doggone terrible. I mean, really awful.

2012: Its a Disaster

Whatever. Yeah, I still want to see this.

Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story

There's plenty material for a movie here. Lee's invention of Jeet Kune Do certainly did change the martial arts world at the very least and the movies to boot. That said, I've seen about half the film and the big problem is that Jason Scott Lee doesn't have Bruce's charisma, which is the whole point.

Mulholland Dr.

Never saw this film, but that's a great trailer.

Jason Scott Lee doesn't have Bruce's charisma, which is the whole point.

I really don't know how you fix that. If you had an actor with the equivalent charisma to BRUCE LEE (!) he would probably have such a spectacular career he wouldn't do a bio movie.

You can be sure the producers did an exhaustive search trying to cast such an iconic role.

No one can replace Bruce Lee. But I thought Jason Scott Lee did a fine job and was a good choice. At a certain point you have to look at every posssibility and make a decision.

On a side note, please keep in mind acting is a profession which is not traditionally revered among Asians. When I was a talent agent and there was a part for an Asian it
was much more difficult to cast because speaking proportionally there was a smaller pool of people to choose from. Not a lot of Asians go into acting.

The casting challenge for the makers of the Bruce Lee movie was huge. How many guys in that age category, who are Asian, who bear some resemblance to Bruce, that can actually act AND perform the martial arts believably at a BRUCE LEE level? It's an almost impossible task to cast that part because of Bruce's incredible recognition level around the world.

I think harder it's to cast Superman or Scarlett O'Hara than Bruce Lee.

I think the Mulholland Drive trailer is perfect for a Lynch film, even if it might not be for someone else.

IIRC Deep River is also the name of the apartment building that Isabella Rosselini's character lives in in Blue Velvet. Lynch must like the name.

Gee, not much love for the Mulholland Drive trailer. Moving right along to something in a completely different genre, we turn to Disney/Pixar.

I rilly dunno, JWD...

It's a great trailer, though it could be just a little shorter.

I knew they should've stayed in the museum. tongue

Zaz, yeah, they got a little carried away with themselves. I see this a lot in trailers, the filmmakers are so proud of what they've done, they forget the purpose of the trailer is to sell tickets, not show the whole thing. DEFINITELY needed to be shorter.

I was starting to get the sense I'd seen this movie before. angry
