Yay! DRL gave me a break!

You're horrible you know that. You save Qui-gon just to have him be killed in the purge! I was hoping that somehow you'd find a way for Obi-wan to save him!

I have tweaked this and changed it so many times I think I’ve practically re-written it. I wasn’t sure how to jump from where I finished off in the last post to the future and I didn’t want to bore anyone with information that we already know about. (I’m assuming that everyone has seen the movies) . Things change in Revenge of the sith a bit and no one goes to live on Tatooine.

For five years, Qui-Gon kept the memory of his missing Padawan deep inside close to his heart. He had a new Padawan to train and his time was taken up concentrating on teaching Anakin the finer points of being a Jedi. Nevertheless, when he was alone in his meditations he would remember Obi-Wan and the visions he’d had before his death.
Qui-Gon had come to accept the fact that Obi-Wan was dead and he knew he had to let him go if he expected to train the chosen one. They’d searched for Obi-Wan for many months and no trace was ever found of him and as the months turned into years, Anakin’s thirst for knowledge kept Qui-Gon busy with training and missions.

However, it was in these quiet moments when they had some down time in the temple and Anakin was in class that he could let his mind go back to the image of Obi-Wan. He’d come to the conclusion that whatever Obi-Wan had seen in his visions was the reason he was dead now and he felt guilty knowing that on the night he disappeared Obi-Wan had wanted to speak to him.

He opened up to the Force and brought back the discussions they’d had about his visions and paramount amongst them were several glaring truths. Obi-Wan had mentioned seeing a black clothed being with a red sabre, and he’d known exactly what the sith was going to do. He’d known where the controls were to switch off the laser beams on Naboo, even though he’d never been there before, and he’d known that Palpatine was going to be Chancellor.
Qui-Gon and Yoda had even meditated together to try and piece together the meaning of them, but without more information they had nothing to go on. Whatever was going to happen in the future had died with Obi-Wan.

Anakin settled into his new life as a Jedi Padawan and had little time to think about his Mother, or about Padmè. His objective was to prove to Qui-Gon that he was a far superior apprentice than Obi-Wan had been. Although Qui-Gon never mentioned his lost apprentice, Anakin’s peers were always comparing them. Everything Anakin achieved was almost as good as what Obi-Wan had achieved before him. Even some of his teaching Masters would use Obi-Wan as an example of how an apprentice should perform. He was sick of hearing about the ‘sith killer,’ the perfect padawan.

The only time he felt important was when Chancellor Palpatine contacted him. They communicated by com-link most of the time because it was against Jedi policy for apprentices to interact with political representatives. However, because Palpatine was Chancellor, he was given permission to contact him on rare occasions. He enjoyed his talks with Palpatine, because even though the Jedi said he was the ‘chosen one’ they didn’t treat him like he was special, but Palpatine did.

The Chancellor had become a trusted mentor and sometimes he felt he could confide his secret feelings more to him than he could to Qui-Gon. Even though he thought of Qui-Gon as the father he’d never had, sometimes he felt that his master was too strict with him. It was always - your focus determines your reality - keep your mind in the here and now- control your impatience- meditate- control your emotions. He felt stifled by the Jedi’s rules.

But Palpatine praised him for his connection to the force and told him that he would be the greatest Jedi that ever lived. He knew in his own mind that he was far superior than the other Padawan’s his age. He was smarter and more powerful than most of the senior padawan’s as well and he’d expected his master to agree with him when he asked to be promoted to a senior. His master had laughed at him and said that he was too young and that he still had a long way to go before he worried about that. Sometimes he wondered if Qui-Gon was holding him back on purpose.

Chancellor Palpatine rose from his grand chair and moved to the window. He couldn’t believe that five years ago the first stage of his grand plan had been set in motion and now as he gazed across the landscape of Coruscant and thought about the next stage.

Dooku had kept him notified as to the progress of the clones and to his delight in just another five years his magnificent army of clones would be ready. He’d sent Dooku to Kamino under the guise of Lord Tyranus to inform Taun We, that the commander clones would need a special chip inserted into their brains so the Jedi council could monitor and keep the commanders informed of any change in plans if their communicators were lost or destroyed. He smiled at the simplicity of his plans and the believing nature of the Kamoians.

Another step in his rise to ultimate power would be the induction of Anakin Skywalker as his new apprentice. The boy was almost begging to be a part of Palpatine's plans. Anakin was easy to manipulate and the Jedi were easy to fool. Nothing and no one could stop him now and once the clones were commissioned as the Republic’s army, they would fight along side the Jedi. Until the day came when he would send a signal that would turn every clone against those pathetic fools.

Palpatine smiled. That would be a day to celebrate. Nevertheless, that day was far away and right now he was going to Naboo to crown the new Queen and welcome Padmè Amidala into her new role as Senator of Naboo. He knew that Amidala was in Skywalker’s thoughts even though he hadn’t said a great deal about her. Nevertheless, every time Palpatine mentioned her name he could see the youths eyes light up and he remembered the day he’d told Anakin that Amidala was going to be a senator.

Skywalker’s first words were. “Will she be coming to Coruscant more often? Do you think she will remember me?”

Of course Palpatine had smiled and said, “of course she remembers you, she asks after you quite often.” He was quite confident that he could use Anakin’s weakness for her to his advantage.

On the eve of the Clone wars.


Anakin was into his last years as a padawan and after some very horrific dreams about his mother dying, he and Padmè went to Tatooine to save her. When he finds out she’s been tortured by Tusken Raiders he loses control and in his anger he kills the entire village including children. When he returns with his Mothers body, he confesses his sin to Padmè telling her that he will never do that again. She forgives him and comforts him.

After they bury her they receive the message that Qui-Gon has been captured by the leader of the Confederacy of independent planets Count Dooku and they hurry to Geonosis to rescue him. Unfortunately, it was another ruse by Palpatine to introduce the clones as the new army of the Republic.

Yoda rushes to Kamino to claim the army so they can rescue the Jedi from Geonosis. Yoda has no idea that he is doing exactly what Palpatine wants him to do. The clones are victorious in destroying some of the Confederacy’s rebels and Yoda unwittingly helps Chancellor Palpatine succeed in installing the clones as the new army of the Republic.

In the solitude of the Council chambers Yoda, Mace Windu and Qui-Gon sense that the cloud of darkness is smothering them and with the new powers that the senate have bestowed on the Chancellor, they fear that democracy is in danger of collapsing in favour of Dictatorship. The Jedi’s numbers have been severely depleted, with many dying on Geonosis and they remember the first vision Obi-Wan had concerning an army built for the republic and that Obi-Wan had sensed encroaching darkness arriving with the army, but they had no idea that there was anything deceitful about them. The clones obeyed their orders without question and they had been vital in keeping Coruscant safe from the rebels. They concluded it was something else that was bringing the darkness that they all felt coming.



Revenge of the sith.

Revenge is sweet and Sidious, who was methodical in executing his plans, finally wreaks his revenge on the Jedi. His new apprentice Darth Vader rose from the ashes that were once Anakin Skywalker and the Jedi order is destroyed.

When Padmè hears that Palpatine is the Sith Lord that the Jedi had been looking for and that Anakin has killed the younglings in the temple, any love she’d felt for him died. She’d only told him two months before that she was pregnant and she couldn’t comprehend the fact that he could kill Jedi babies when he was going to be a father himself.

“How could he do that Master Jinn, how could he turn into a monster who kills babies and turn against the only family he has?” she asked him when he told her why the temple was burning.
“Palpatine has twisted his mind and convinced him that the Jedi are evil. I have to talk to him, I have to stop him from killing any one else.”


“Are you certain that it was Anakin who killed those children?” she asked hoping that Qui-Gon had been mistaken, but in her mind she knew it was true because he had killed Tusken children on Tatooine.

“I’m sorry Senator, I have the recording disk from the temple and it shows him killing them and Palpatine has killed several senators who were vocal against him gaining more power. I came to warn you knowing that you have voiced your concerns about Palpatine in the past. I also know that you and Anakin were very close. Do you know where he is now?”

“Please I want to see the disk, if it’s true, then he’s betrayed everything we stood for, I must know?”

“Senator, the images on it are very distressing, please just believe me when I say he did do it.”

“Master Jinn, I loved Anakin and we were married. He promised me that he was going to stop the war and that he would leave the Jedi and settle down with me on Naboo! How can I live with a man who kills innocent children! Show me and I will tell you where he went.”

Qui-Gon was stunned that he hadn’t known of their love for each other and he felt despair fill him. They hadn’t seen any of this coming. Nevertheless, he had to stop Anakin so he showed her the evidence.

She cried bitterly when she watched the disk. “Master Jinn, Anakin said he was going to Mustafar to end the war and bring peace to his empire. His lust for power has changed him and I don’t want to be here when he returns.”

“It would be wise for you to leave Coruscant immediately Senator, before Palpatine comes looking for you. If he knows of your relationship with Anakin you won’t be safe. Senator Organa is orbiting Coruscant. I’ll get a message to him, he’ll help you.”

Padmè hurriedly packed some clothes, as Bail was sending a shuttle for her and while she waited she wondered if Qui-Gon was going to kill Anakin. She felt so much grief fill her knowing that he’d killed the younglings. She knew then that she didn’t want to see Anakin again.


Mustafar.

Qui-Gon is shocked when he arrives and finds the Separatist leaders dead and he tries to convince Anakin that Palpatine has manipulated him and tricked him. However, Anakin won’t listen to him.

“Why have you done this Anakin?” Qui-Gon shouted to his former Padawan. “How could you turn on your family and kill the younglings. You were like a son to me! You were the ‘chosen one’ you were supposed to destroy the sith not join them!”

“You liar! I wasn’t like a son to you! I was Obi-Wan’s shadow! Every where I went, every one I spoke to, they all compared me to him!”

“I never compared you to Obi-Wan. I loved you because you were you, not Obi-Wan.”

“I don’t believe you! You’ve never let him die! Well I’m glad he’s dead and now you can join him!” He screamed.

They fought but in the end Anakin’s anger was his downfall. In a rage Anakin charged Qui-Gon who defended himself and left Anakin crumpled in a heap near the lava pit. Qui-Gon couldn’t leave Anakin to burn to death and he began to inch his way down the slope to rescue him. However, off in the distance he saw the lights of the Chancellors ship coming down to land. If he stayed there he would be killed, so he hurried away to where his ship was hidden and took off before they saw him.

“Failed we did in keeping the sith from rising again, blind we were to what was happening around us. Allowed Skywalker to fall into the hands of the sith we did. Jedi no more are we.”

“Master Yoda, surely the Jedi are not all dead?” Bail asked. “We must search for survivors and build an army of our own. I and others like me will not rest until we remove Palpatine from power.”

“Sense I did a great disturbance in the force and now there is a void. They are no more Jedi, wiped out they have been. It will take a long time to raise an army to overthrow Sidious. More than eight hundred years old I am, time for me to win battles is long past, too old to fight and no younglings left to train.”

“Master Yoda is right Bail, I’m not as young as I used to be and it took all my strength to defeat Anakin. I’m sure I wouldn’t have defeated him if he hadn’t lost control over his emotions. We are too few and no match for the clone army. Now is not the time to bring Palpatine down he is too powerful. It will take many years to form a rebellion to defeat them. However, there is hope, not all force sensitive beings have been destroyed. The force gave me a sign.” Qui-Gon said.


“Hope you say, what know you Qui-Gon?” Yoda asked.

“I sensed that Padmè Amidala is pregnant and I know it’s Anakin’s child. We must protect her and her unborn child. This child may be our salvation.”

“It will be a long time before her child will be old enough to lead a rebellion against Sidious and who will train the child in the ways of the force?” Bail asked. “What if Padmè won’t let you train the baby. She has already told me she wants everyone to believe that she’s dead.”

“How will you manage that?” Qui-Gon asked

“Have a place in mind where she will be safe do you?” Yoda sais his ears twitching.


“Yes Master Yoda, she can live on a farm that my wife owns in the rural district of Aldera. It is secluded and not on the main travel routes in Alderaan. She will be secure there and she can raise her child without fear of being discovered. She has asked me to help her prove to Palpatine that she died. I will contact Palpatine and tell him that her ship blew up as she left Coruscant to go to Naboo.”

“Do you think he will believe you?” Qui-Gon asked.

‘He will because her ship was fired upon and did explode when her aids and servants were going back to Naboo. Luckily for her we picked Padmè up in my shuttle before she went with them.”

“Then into exile Qui-Gon and I will go, keep in touch with you we will. Not far away we will be.”

Senator Bail Organa and Senator Mon Mothma from Chandrila had no choice but to support the vote to turn the Republic into The Galactic Empire. They would have to bide their time and wait for an opportunity to begin building an army of their own to overthrow the new Dictator Emperor Palpatine.


Ten years later.


Eventually, small pockets of resistance were gaining footholds across the Galaxy and Bail kept Yoda informed of the rise of the Rebel Alliance and after ten years in solitude communing with the force, Yoda and Qui-Gon decided that they should come out of exile and join the alliance.


It took another Ten years before the Rebel Alliance became a formidable army.

They’d set up their first base of operations on Corellia, which was home to the Corellian Engineering Corporation. It was one of the largest shipbuilding firms in the galaxy and secretly the alliance forged ahead and produced many Corvette’s for their growing armies. The ships were fitted with Turbo lasers and were protected with shield generators. However, they were no match for the Imperial Star Destroyers and when their base was discovered they had to leave Corellia and head for their new base in the jungles of Yavin IV one of many moons orbiting the giant gas planet Yavin.


Yoda and Qui-Gon had hitched a ride with a brash Corellian pilot named Han Solo who was prepared to take them to Yavin IV for a price. His ship was called the Millennium Falcon. It was an early design of the Corvette, and his first mate was a Wookiee named Chewbacca. Yoda had met him at the end of the clone wars and remembered him as being a great warrior.

Qui-Gon stood at the view screen as the stars streaked past, he was alone in his thoughts and Yoda was talking to Chewbacca, Han was at the controls.

“Hey Qui-Gon, you don’t say much do you?” Han said.

“I don’t have anything to say.”

“Your friend over there seems to have plenty to say to Chewie!”

Qui-Gon glanced over and noticed Yoda and Chewbacca deep in conversation. “They knew each other in the Clone wars.”

“The Clone wars – that was forever ago! I hear that was the beginning of the end for them Jedi. Did you know any of them?”

“I did, but they’re all dead now.”

“Yeah they should’ve kept well away from that Emperor. I don’t like the guy and he’s not one that I want to tangle with. That’s why when we get to Yavin IV I want my money quick so I can go pay my debt to Jabba before he send his bounty hunters after me.”

You’re not staying to fight with the Rebellion?”

“No not me bud, what good is it getting paid and then not being able to spend it. I’m not fool enough to hassle them Imperials. I just want my money.”

“They could use a good pilot like you.”

“You trying to recruit me, it won’t work bud. I like my freedom too much.”

Abruptly, Qui-Gon felt a slight fluctuation in the Force. He turned to gaze out the view screen and in the distance he could see a mass of asteroids all clumped together.

“Captain Solo, what is that over there?”

Han could see the asteroid belt and he shrugged. “I suppose you could say it’s the galaxies way of keeping itself clean. This area is like a gigantic vacuum cleaner, there’s some sort of magnetic asteroid field that draws space junk into it. Mostly bits of metal from ships that have been destroyed over the years. There are even flakes of carbonite from Bespin in there.”


“Carbonite, isn’t that a solid housing substance for holding Tibanna gas?”


‘Yeah, and it’s worth a bit if it still has the gas in it. The gas would come in handy on Yavin IV. I think that’s why the alliance chose that moon, because they can send out salvagers to collect the metal and anything else floating around there that might be useful in patching up their ships and forging more weapons for their rebellion.”

Qui-Gon felt a compulsion from the Force to have a closer look at all the space junk.
“Captain Solo, would you mind taking a detour. I’d like to have a closer look at this phenomenon, it has peaked my interest.”


“Sure, it’s your money; I’ll just add it to the bill. I’m in no hurry.”


Qui-Gon continued to gaze out the viewer as Han slowed the Millennium Falcon and brought it to a stop just outside the outer edges of the field. There was something about the asteroid field that caused Qui-Gon to think of Obi-Wan and for some reason watching all the drifting metal brought images of his former Padawan to mind.

He hadn’t thought about him for some time now, not since they’d come out of exile.

While they were in exile they’d spent their time studying all aspects of the Force, including the Ancient Order of the Whills and Qui-Gon had hoped that he could call Obi-Wan from the netherworld as a guiding spirit. However, it never happened and Qui-Gon eventually gave up trying.

He glanced back to Yoda to see if he’d felt any fluctuations in the Force, nevertheless, Yoda was still speaking with Chewbacca. He stretched out, but whatever he’d felt was gone now and he sighed.


“Seen enough Qui-Gon?” Han said impatiently.


Qui-Gon came out of his musing and nodded. “Thank you Captain, you may continue on to Yavin IV.”

Great update! I like how you combined many years into one chapter.

And the ability to pass an exam is insignificant next to the power of the force. Especially if it is a ginormous Algebra exam that you are supposed to be studying for but are wishing you were outside playing basketball instead.
